Welcome to my shop!

I am a 70 year young senior. I joined the Army as a 17 year old and got out at 20. I began my Millwright apprenticeship shortly after that and completed it in 1959. I had been seriously trained as a welder during my apprenticeship, and I took the Master Welder test and passed it at the age of 23.

I spent the next 25 years working as a repair welder. When Kaiser Steel Corp. went out of business, I had enough credits to retire at the age of 48. But I could not adapt to retirement, so a series of adventures followed, ending finally with me becoming the Lead Instructor for the Boilermaker’s Apprenticeship Program for Southern California and Nevada, a position I held for 6 years. My forte was layout.

Bad health put me on the bench permanently about 6 years ago, and I have devoted my spare time to antique restoration and carving. I have belonged to the OldTools mailing list on the Internet for about 5 years.

I love old tools!
