TURNED AND CARVED SPOON

I like to combine wood turning with carving. I have a supply of silk oak that turns really well, but it is a little too soft for use as a spoon. I decided to make the handle from the silk oak and the spoon from carob wood. Carob is very hard and pretty heavy. I also just acquired a supply of carob.

I tenoned the silk oak into the carob for strength.  I think it makes a nice contrast, and I intend to do several of these in different sizes. Here are 2 pictures of the spoon. It is 14” long.

Oh! And this is not a display piece. It is intended to be used in the kitchen.
