He worked as photo editor for The Technique (weekly circulation 10k), was staff photographer for the Daily Olympian (the daily newspaper of the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Village), recipient of various awards including a Golden Crown award of the Columbia School of Journalism. Dr. Chris Scholz is Research Faculty with the Georgia Electronic Design Center at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, GA. He is responsible for research projects sponsored by the Defense Advanced Research Project Agency, Intel Corporation, Pirelli and other private sector companies. His research spans wireless, wired and optical communication technology and includes the development of next generation testbed facilities at Georgia Tech. He also is a Sam Nunn International Security Fellow. With Intel Corporation he was responsible for strategic planning, competitive analysis and product development related to Intel’s optical strategy. He managed a team that developed photonic integrated circuits on Silicon platform. At Intel Capital, the VC branch of Intel Corporation, he was responsible for due diligence on over 50 funding and acquisition targets. Chris Scholz held post-doctoral positions at the Optical Communications and Photonics Laboratory at the University of California Santa Barbara and the Center for High-Technology Materials at the University of New Mexico. He holds a Ph.D. degree form the Georgia Institute of Technology (Electrical and Computer Engineering), a MS degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology (Aerospace Engineering), a MS degree from the TU Braunschweig, Germany (Mechanical Engineering) and a BS Degree from the RU Bochum, Germany (Mechanical Engineering). He has published numerous technical
research papers, holds three issued US and international patents and
has numerous pending patents.
