Snips... ;-)
Too Precious?...
Skills learned are most precious. Dangling from one leg out in the tribulations of real
life, and still doing high accuracy work is hard to come
by. Good help is hard to find. Fancy gear (a matter of
pride and a good name for it, btw) just means one more
egg to keep track of in the basket. You not only have to
dangle by the leg and do the job, but keep an eye on
your fancy gear, while you chew gum and whistle Dixie at
the same time no less.
Your reward is fancy gear you get to keep. It looks
better, it works much better, but it wants more care. It's extra bonus and extra responsibility rolled into
one.
The catskinner with the clean cap on his head at
the end of the day. Who has moved a whole lot of
material and the cat still runs and looks fine. The
welder with unburned cuffs n collar and a mile of pipe
behind him.
Carpenter out on the job with a hand
carved wooden hammer handle he made on his own time,
which fits his hand like a glove and his swing like a
dream, a little more accurate, a bit more comfort, still
intact at the end of a long hard week.
The walk we try to walk. Walk of the giants.
yours,
Scott Grandstaff
