Snips... ;-)
Hey, hey, now!!
Let's keep a lid on this! Whattaya you guys doing
letting the word out that #6 has any legitimate use? It's
been boo'ed, screwed and tatooed for a decade and more
now and that's the way it needs to stay! You want to
start paying top dollar?? Now, just between us (and I
better not hear of this gettin out, mum's the word
here). The #6 is ideal for joining anything under 4'.
Most every coffee table, occasional table, side table,
sofa table. Chair parts, cabinet front frames, carcass
parts. The majority of actual work is all under 4'.
Think about it. Most of it is under 3 ! Somehow the
big tables, tall clocks and aircraft carrier sized desks
are the ones people seem to remember but the smaller
pieces are really the bread n butter projects of any
shop.
On top of this, I used one for everything before I
knew any better :-) or had other planes, and guess
what? It worked on longer stuff too. Took a little
more "fit, mark and try" but then I though that was
supposed to be how it went anyway. Come to think of it,
I still do. So, shush it. And repeat after me, "The 6
is a useless in-between size with no real use and should
be heavily discounted wherever it occurs. " Blabbermouths !! ;-) yours,
Scott Grandstaff
